WELCOME, ADVENTURERS!

Every year, a vibrant crew of nerdy faith leaders come together to form adventuring parties in an epic, week-long retreat of Dungeons & Dragons. With a mix of rest, play, study, worship, spiritual practices, and prayer this retreat explores topics of faith and life through the world of roleplaying games. Whether you’re a beginner or have played the game for years, you’re welcome here! We’d love to meet you (and your characters!)

THIS YEAR…

Holy Rollers 2026: Back to the Cradle tells a story of return, restoration, and rebirth in all things–even in the places most unexpected! Join our adventuring party to help heal the Fracture and repair the many broken bonds across the magical regions of the Ao.

HOLY ROLLERS 2026: BACK TO THE CRADLE

DATE: Monday, August 24, 2026 – Thursday, August 27, 2026

LOCATION: Camp Onomia, Vogel Retreat Center, Onamia, Minnesota

SETTING: Just under two hours north of the Twin Cities, the towering pines and plentiful wildlife make up the grounds of Camp Onomia.  Set within a peaceful 100 acres of forest on the shores of Lake Shakopee, Onomia is set apart from noise and distraction.  The surrounding Rum River State Forest and Mille Lacs – Kathio State Park add multiple layers of God’s creation to block out the stresses of everyday life.  Here you are able to escape and enjoy the beauty of rest, play, and prayer.

LODGING: Retreat participants will have rooms in the Vogel Retreat Center. At registration, you will have the option of a shared or private room. The lodge has two floors with an additional prayer labyrinth.

Shared Room:

  • Share a room with 1 or 2 friends.
  • Guest rooms each have their own bathroom.
  • Linens and towels are provided

Private Room:

  • Have a room all to yourself!
  • Guest rooms each have their own bathroom.
  • Linens and towels are provided.

PLAY: Join a rich story that is over a decade in the telling! Our retreat will feature a thrilling new chapter in a unique game world. Each year, the world of The Ao has been shaped by our play. This year our games will stretch across three different tiers of play. Participants will have the option to play one or more characters starting at levels 3, 7, or 12. This will allow players to enjoy a variety of stories and play experiences across the span of the retreat.

The Holy Rollers Players Guide will release on July 15th with full character creation guidelines. It will also contain story hooks that will help you jump in and leave your own mark on The Ao.

We strive to make our play accessible for players of all experience levels. So whether you’re D&D curious but have never played before, or you’ve been playing since before you could walk, you can expect an amazing play experience. To meet this goal, DMs will be available this year to meet 1-on-1 with participants who would appreciate a little extra help with character creation.

LEAD: This year, participants can volunteer to share their skills and passions with others through assisting with worship, leading an activity during free time, or testing out the DM chair during our grand finale encounter.

LEARN: Our learning sessions this year will be led by Rev. Rory Philstrom, the Dungeon Master Pastor himself. In them we will explore the childlike powers of imagination and how they can help us heal what has fractured in our lives in the real world.

EXTRAS: For anyone looking to extend their retreat, Camp Onomia has graciously made space available for participants to add an extra retreat day either before or after Holy Rollers. So consider grabbing a little extra unstructured relaxation time along the beautiful shores of Lake Shakopee. (Note: while meals are included in the retreat, meals during any extra retreat time would be on your own.)

Early Bird Registration Open Now Until April 30!
