“Back to the Cradle” — August 24–27 at Camp Onomia, Onamia, Minnesota
The dice are calling. Early bird registration is officially open for Holy Rollers 2026: Back to the Cradle — and if you’ve ever wanted to spend four days in the Minnesota wilderness playing Dungeons & Dragons alongside a community of nerdy, faithful, joy-filled adventurers, this is your moment.
Early bird pricing is available through April 30th, saving you $30 off regular registration. Seats are limited, so don’t wait until the last minute to secure your spot at the table.
A Story Worth Returning To
Holy Rollers is an annual retreat where faith leaders, curious seekers, and RPG enthusiasts of all stripes come together to explore the big questions of life and spirit — through the world of a tabletop roleplaying game. It’s part D&D campaign, part spiritual retreat, part summer camp, and entirely unlike anything else out there.
This year’s theme, Back to the Cradle, is a story of return, restoration, and rebirth — in all things, even in the places most unexpected. Participants will join an adventuring party tasked with healing The Fracture and repairing broken bonds across the magical regions of The Ao, a game world that has been shaped by over a decade of collaborative play. Your choices at the table this August will leave a real mark on the story.
What to Expect
Play
This year’s games will stretch across three tiers of play, with characters beginning at levels 3, 7, or 12. Whether you want to dive into one story arc or experience multiple threads across the retreat, there’s a path for you. The Holy Rollers Players Guide drops on July 15th with full character creation guidelines and story hooks to help you hit the ground running.
Never played D&D before? Perfect — you’re welcome here. DMs will be available for one-on-one character creation help, and the retreat is specifically designed to be accessible for every experience level, from total newcomers to lifelong players.
Learn
This year’s learning sessions will be led by Rev. Rory Philstrom, the Dungeon Master Pastor himself. Sessions will explore the childlike powers of imagination and how they can help us heal what has fractured in our own lives in the real world. Expect reflection, conversation, and a few surprise revelations — both in-game and out.
Rest
Set on the shores of Lake Shakopee within 100 peaceful acres of forest, Camp Onomia is surrounded by the Rum River State Forest and Mille Lacs–Kathio State Park. It is, in a word, restorative. The retreat center offers comfortable rooms (with your own bathroom and provided linens), a prayer labyrinth, and the kind of slow, unhurried pace that most of us desperately need. This is a long rest in every sense of the phrase.
Lead
Participants who want to contribute more can volunteer to assist with worship, lead an activity during free time, or even take a turn in the DM chair during the grand finale encounter. Holy Rollers has always been a community endeavor — there’s room for your gifts here.
